Life Roundup

This is one of those "I've been so busy lately that I haven't had the time to blog" entries.

1. My mom buys People magazine off those Book Sale racks at P30 an issue. Which is fine, except that she would have phone conversations with me asking about a so-called "unsolved crime of passion" that was featured in her latest issue on hand. The other day, upon reading an April 2006 issue, she asked me to Google said murder in said U.S. national park, because she couldn't sleep last night thinking about that poor family on a picnic.

2. Catholics have really nice churches.

3. I picked up gout over the weekend, after riding myself to dehydration: roughly 60 kilometers around hilly Batangas under thesummer sun. The flare up wasn't that bad, but the medicine brings chaos to my bowels, so I continue to dehydrate. I think I've lost a pound overnight.

4. To the casual investor, time deposits, equity funds and treasury bills are the norm. But I'm getting schooled at hedge funds, and funds of hedge funds, because there's some really good action in there -- 15% annualized. But to do that, I'd have to take money to another country.

5. I've several projects on the hopper: an identity system, series of posters, a book, and two applications for which I serve as IA/UI/UX designer. That's beside the little pieces here and there, like learning Drupal, gardening (a welcome way of procrastination), going to the gym, blogging. I realized now why I don't have much of a social life lately.

6. I am currently lusting for a pocketpc or smartphone. I've been trawling bidshot and ebay.ph for them, ever since I just got hooked on the idea that I can sit in a cafe with free wifi and talk for hours over skype. That, plus using it as a GPRS or EDGE modem while I'm away from my office.

7. I went to to see two towns in Batangas, one on the saddle, and one for Jollibee. Both towns, Nasugbu and Balayan, are hoppin'. In fact, it feels like they're a big party out in the middle of nowhere. Balayan, which I knew mostly for its bagoong, apparently does good lechon as well. Nasugbu is jetski heaven, as I understood it.

8. We now have a washing machine and dryer at our house, whereas before we'd take all our laundry to my inlaws and wash them there. They are now the largest appliances in the house, and it took a while to set them up since they were 110 volts and the technician, who charges an arm and two legs, had to fix our 110 because the electrician, who didn't charge an arm and a leg, didn't "neutralize" it properly. Now, friends can come over, cook, eat, sleep over and wash their laundry.

9. At exactly 10 AM today, I should have finished something for #5. I will then go back to dealing with #6.

10. When going to Tagaytay, always take the Greenfields/ABI exit. Take the same coming back to the SLEX.

ive been crushing on the benqP50 smartphone but then the mac iphone appeared to me in a vision, and prophesized of a new age in smartphones. im a believer...

I've narrowed down my search to the HTC TyTN, aka Cingular 8525 aka a boatload of others.

Check it here. I don't know about the Iphone -- pocketpc's sync okay with macs and I want that QWERTY keyboard.
